I guess I should do a wee bit of shameless self promo. I am hugely honoured to have been awarded 3rd prize in this years International Color Awards: Photography Master’s Cup for my portrait of Don.
The Master’s Cup is one of the leading international awards honouring colour photography and it’s jury is selected from the likes of Esquire, Taschen, Wieden+Kennedy, Phaidon and Vogue.
You can see Don’s portrait and more examples of my work: commissioned and personal projects on my website www.jamesellerker.com.

Outtakes in San Francisco.

I am loving the light in California, and have been playing around with flare for creative portraits.

I have just returned to the U.S. from London after a three day shoot. I managed to squeeze in a studio portrait of Austin, as part of an ongoing personal project called ‘Extras’. A huge thanks to Lux Photodigital, who studios are like a second home to me. I miss them all now that I have relocated to California.

Great news yesterday. Don’s portrait is awarded silver in The London Photographic Association‘s portrait competition.
This portrait is from a cinematic series… and an ongoing personal project. Did you see him in The King’s Speech? Photographing Don was a joy… it is in the folio.

Great news… I am chuffed to bits!
I had six images selected by The Association of Photographers Awards this year, currently exhibited at The AOP gallery on Leonard Street.
The 2010 exhibition will be held from 16-25 November at the AOP Gallery.
At a boozy Gala Awards evening (… it’s free!), I picked up a ‘Best in Category’ and two ‘Merits’. The portrait of Don below won ‘Best in Category’.

After a run of commissioned work , I have been desperate to keep my personal projects simmering away.
This is one of the latest shoots I have done in the studio. A big thanks to all the boys at Lux studios for their generosity of spirit and painting all the flats mint green!
